I Believe ...
in one sovereign GOD (Is.45:4-7) who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God has revealed himself to us in His creation (Rm.1:20), in the Bible (2 Tim.3:16), and in His Son,
Jesus Christ (Heb.1:2-4) as the infinite-personal God who calls us to worship and obey Him as the
source and Lord of all life.
What I believe about God:
I believe that God is the sole CREATOR and SUSTAINER of all that exist (both visible and invisible), and
He created our world in six consecutive days through the power of His Word (Gen.1; Jn.1:1-3).
What I believe about Jesus:
I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the Son of God, truly God and truly man, born of a virgin, and sent to the
world to reveal God to us and to provide the way for us to know God personally, to submit to Him as Lord,
and to enjoy life in Him (Jn.3:16). Following His ministry on earth (life, death, and resurrection), Christ
ascended to heaven where He is exalted with the Father in the position of authority and power over all (Phil.2:9).
He continues His gracious rule today in all believers who submit to his Lordship. He will return to earth to take up his Church (1 Th.4:16-17), reign on earth for a thousand years (Rev.20:4), to judge all people (Rev.20:13), and to complete the establishment of God’s eternal reign over all creation, after which he will renew both heaven and earth according to his great design to dwell forever with the redeemed (Rev.21)
What I believe about God's Holy Spirit:
I believe that the HOLY SPIRIT is the living Spirit of God sent into the world to make real and personal the will and work of God. He is the one who draws us to God, convicting us of our sin and graciously calling us to faith in God through Christ (Jn.16:7-15). The Holy Spirit is responsible of our NEW BIRTH (Jn.3:6) which leads us to repentance of sins and faith in Christ, and of our sanctification (Rm.6:22), being transformed into the image of Christ (2 Cor.3:18). The Holy Spirit dwells in the believer’s heart from conversion on, and never departs (Eph.4:30).
What I believe about Salvation:
I believe that God has graciously provided SALVATION through Jesus Christ who lived a perfect life of righteousness and died on the cross as payment for our sin as He received God’s wrath on behalf of His Church. He rose from the dead for our justification thus promising physical resurrection and eternal life for those who obediently believe in him (1 Cor.15:17). All who receive faith and place their trust in Jesus Christ, apart from any human effort (Eph.2:8-10), by turning from self and sins to Him alone as Savior and Lord, are forgiven their sins, justified in God’s sight and saved from the wages of sin and death by God’s grace alone.
What I believe about the Gospel:
I believe that there is only one Gospel (Galatians 1) and that it is the good news that salvation from man's depravity is the free gift of God through Christ Jesus. Every Christian should persue obedience in participation in the Great Commission by sharing the truth, hope and love of the Gospel (Mt.28:19-20).
What I believe about the Bible:
I believe that the BIBLE is the sole authoritative, trustworthy, infallible, and inspired Word of God (2 Pe.1:21; 2 Tim.3:16) which is His actual words to mankind (Eph.2:20). The canon of Scripture is complete in its 66 books and nothing can be added nor taken off from it until the return of Jesus Christ (Rev.22:18-19). Through Scripture, God has granted us absolutely all we need for our daily life with him (2 Pe.1:3). As our only rule of faith and practice, the Bible is to be read, studied, and taught as God’s call to understanding of truth and obedience. I believe the Bible is to be trusted and obeyed.
What I believe about humanity:
The Imago Dei: All people are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). This is the source and beginning of our identity. I believe that MANKIND are created male and female (Gen.1:27), made in the image of God (Gen.1:27), but that the first man and woman sinned through disobedience so that all people and all creation since then have been separated from God and from each other (Gen.3). Therefore, all people are by nature fallen in body, soul, and spirit, are enemies of God, and in need of adoption through reconciliation and the forgiveness of sin via Christ's substitutionary atonement on the cross and His bodily resurrection (Rm.3:23).
What I believe about marriage and family:
I believe that MARRIAGE is a God ordained covenant between a man and a woman which should be kept undefiled and unbroken until death do them part (Gen.2:24). That marriages are intended to produce children and godly heritages in the world to reflect the unity of God through family love and honor (Gen. 1:28). I believe children are a blessing from the Lord (Ps. 127:3) and should be protected, cherished, instructed and raised in the way of the Lord (Deut. 6: 5-9).
What I believe about the Church:
I believe that the CHURCH is the living body of Jesus Christ on earth today (1 Cor.12:13), of which He is Head and Lord. The church was formed and is filled by the Holy Spirit who baptizes us into the body of Jesus Christ when we come to faith in Christ (1 Cor.12:13). The Church started at Pentecost and its foundation was laid down once for all by the Apostles (Eph.2:20). Individual members of the church are responsible to maintain the unity of the church, to submit to its leaders (Heb.13:17) and church discipline (Mt.18:15-20), and to work for its maturity by faithfully exercising their spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit while being united in submission to sound biblical doctrine as delivered in the Holy Scripture.
I believe that the local church is entrusted to ELDERS/PASTORS (Tit.1:5) who must be men who meet the biblical standards for the office (1 Tim.3; Tit.2). These men have the responsibility to lead the congregation through the preaching and teaching of his Word (2 Tim.4:2), to encourage others by sound doctrine, and to refute those who contradict it (Tit.1:9) for the glory of God and for the sake of His people.
What I believe about Baptism and Communion:
I believe that BAPTISM and COMMUNION are ordinances given to believers by Jesus Christ Himself to be faithfully observed as reminders to the Church of the saving acts of God and as signs of faith in Christ (Mt.28:19; 1 Cor.11:23-26). Baptism is the visible sign of the regeneration that took place within the believer at the moment of conversion, and Communion is the remembrance of Christ's sacrifice on behalf of His people.
What I believe about eternity:
There is eternal life of the all those who are in Christ and the eternal punishment of the lost (Romans 6:23)
Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus! (1 Thessalonians 3:13)
The Lord Jesus is coming again to this earth, personally, bodily, and visibly, so we must be watchful and ready in prayer, obedience and faith in all things.
