A Message To Every Girl Who's Tired

July 7, 2019

I had the opportunity to pick blueberries the other day. To be honest, I thought it'd be a  cute photo opp! I thought, sure, I'll go and save myself some money at the store, take some cute pictures and be the hero of my home since every member of my family devours blueberries daily. Easy. But of course, it wasn't. It was hard. The blueberries were wild, which meant they were not nestled in a pretty or manicured grove. I had to hunt and dig and pull and reach and ... it was more than what I singed up for. But, such is most anything in life that's worth having.

The Bible says that if we refuse to grow tired, there will be rewards for us (Galations 6:9). These truth filled words are so uplifting to hear, but often times, difficult to remember in the difficult times. Some of us are really facing some difficult things - things we did not sign up for. For me, it's some brokenness within my extended family. It's the trial of dealing with drama that I ddin't sign up for; the call to love unloveliness and to be a peace maker in the middle of someone else's battle. That's tough. But I know that so many of us out here are dealing with even more.

We're dealing with death and sickness, breakups, divorce, financial burdens ... you name it. We know someone who is dealing with it. And though we try to pray and trust God, sometimes we're just tired. Sometimes, we just want to give up.

So this is to the girl who's honest enough to admit that she's tired. She's poured her heart out, done all she knows to do to keep things together. She's prayed, sought after wise and Godly advice. She's  loved hard, gave all that she had, would do anything for anyone, yet it's never enough. She compares her intentions with the outcome and she's come to the conclusion that she's waisted her time. She feels empty, misunderstood, unwanted and confused.

But a harvest is coming!

"The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone.…" - Galatians 6:8-10

The opportunity is always there to give up, but simultaneously, so is the opportunity to trust God and keep going. Keep loving. Keep giving. Keep praying. Keep believing. Yes, you're tired and fed up and discouraged and overwhelmed. No, it doesn't always seem worth it, but all things will work together for your good, in Jesus name (Romans 8:28)!

This trial is tough, but it's meant to grow you, mature you and build you up for God's purpose and plan over your life. It's not an accident and it's not gone unnoticed. The King of the Universe sees your heart, your tears and your intentions.

He sees that you are tired and His grace covers that, too.

"My grace is sufficient for you. My power works best in your weakness" - 2 Corinthians 12:9

You are not alone. You are not a looser. You are not forgotten and you are not a quitter. You can do this, girl! We can do this! And though we may have to pull and reach and push and dig, we aren't doing this alone. The Holy Spirit is with us and He is in us, so failure is not possible.

It may not look like what you desire it to look like in this moment and season; it may not feel good or comfortable and it may not be what you honestly deserve, but I have decided that I'd rather believe God and obey His leading which results in His rewards, than allow my flesh permission to disqualify me from the abundance Christ desires to produce in me and for me. No one and nothing is worth missing out on that! So I want to encourage you to just keep being Jesus, even if no one understands. Just keep smiling and loving and praying and showing kindness. Keep believing and trusting and reading your word and hiding those scriptures in your heart. It's all for your good and God's glory!

So, at the end of my blueberry adventure, I ended up with over 6 pounds of blueberries! And once it was all said and done, I can now smile because I realize the struggle was worth it! How much more so will our reward be in spiritual matters and in heavenly places? The prize is always worth the struggle it took to achieve, but if we quit, we'll never know. So don't give up. You got this, girl!

I'm cheering you on!
