Who Needs a Recharge?

Who needs to sit down somewhere? Three months into the new year and we could all use a break, correct?

I pray for peace, often, not because I'm waring with things, but honestly, sometimes I feel like things are waring with me! I imagine we all must feel like that from time to time.

What do you do when you are feeling drained, overwhelmed or just exhausted?

I thought I would share some tips I find super helpful to recharge - mind, body and soul. No couch required! 1) Eliminate the Unnecessary

How many moments of each hour are filled with things that don't add to your life, but rather consume the time that could be used to improve your day? Whatever that is- scrolling, worrying, excessive pampering- there is something that is stealing your time and distracting you from your Prince of Peace (Jesus)! Think of ways to remove the urge to invest your time in the unnecessary things.

2. Learn to Rest

When our bodies have adequate rest, it truly affects and aligns the rest of us: our minds, our emotions, as well as our bodies. In the Bible, Scripture urges us to rest! We see Jesus resting all the time (“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."~Mark 6:31).

The best place to rest is in prayer

and in God's word!.

Jesus, Himself, is the Word made flesh (John 1:1), so when we read scripture, it breathes life into us. If you haven't opened your "Good Book" in a while, I want to lovingly encourage you to take the first 10 min of your day this week and do just that! Rest in the Word by reading His word!

3. Refocus Your Gaze

Where are my glasses/contact wearing friends??? You already know, if your eyes are not focused and rested, you get headaches, imbalance and ugly red eyes! Same is true when our spiritual eyes are not focused on Christ: our lives get ugly and irritated, we become unbalanced in our relationships and mentality and our spirits begin to ache. This isn't about feelings - sometimes we don't FEEL out of wack, but our decisions, responses and even our thoughts reflect whether or not we are pursuing Jesus. Remaining in Jesus is our sure promise to rest and refocus. Keeping our eyes, our hope, our attention and our love on Him ushers in His peace that passes all understanding.

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."~Matthew 11:28
